Andre Madio: The training that changed my life
My father worked as a teacher in a school and his salary was the only source of income to pay my school fees. Unexpectedly, my father had lost his salary and now I had to stop my studies, because he had no other source of income.
In November 2018, I left for the campus to say goodbye to my classmates because I was going to return to the village and come back a few years later when my father's salary situation would be fixed. That's when I found the poster advertising a training course on The Fundamentals of Social Entrepreneurship, organized by Global Synergy for Leadership. Participation was free and I was very excited about the opportunity.
During the three-day course, I had come to realize that I had the power to change my situation, that I could start from scratch and build something. I was much more moved by the Parable of the Pipeline, a success story that the coach had told us during the training. This story had convinced me that there are people who started from nothing and became successful people, and I said to myself, if they can do it, why can't I?
I'd come out of the course determined to do something and finance my studies myself, but I didn't know where to start. Through Facebook, I asked for an interview with Coach Eric Selemani, and without any difficulty, he responded positively. He received me at the Global Synergy for Leadership office and I said, “How can I become like you? What I had learned from the advice he had given me was that I should continually learn and become better at what I do. He had offered me the opportunity to start volunteering at Global Synergy for Leadership, which was a grace for me to attend all the trainings for free. My mindset had opened up, my mentality had changed and my self-confidence had grown.
I had started to work as an English trainer, which enabled me to finance my studies with the little money I had. At Global Synergy for Leadership, I met people I would never have met anywhere else, and these people had a significant impact on my life.
Inspired by this program, I finished my university studies and haven't stopped learning. I currently hold a certification in Project Management-Google Coursera, Certified Trainer from Interweave Solutions, Certified in Leadership and Communication from Launching Leaders and am currently studying Business Administration at Brigham Young University-Idaho.
You become what your role models are, and today I offer my services as a consultant trainer, an inspiration I had from the very first day I attended training at Global Synergy for Leadership.
Today, I use the concepts and principles of leadership I learned at Global Synergy for Leadership to manage the teams under my responsibility, at professional, social, religious and family levels. Thanks to the leadership training at Global Synergy for Leadership, I've improved and I'm now leading my teams to success.
